Okay, so today I decided to get crafty and make some autumn-themed tea cups. I’ve been seeing these adorable fall-inspired mugs all over Pinterest, and I thought, “Hey, I can do that!” So, here’s how it went down.

Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to get my supplies together. I already had a few plain white ceramic tea cups that I got on sale a while back. Then, I went and grabbed:
- Some acrylic paints – I picked out some warm colors like orange, red, yellow, and a bit of brown.
- Paintbrushes – A couple of different sizes, some thin ones for details and a wider one for bigger areas.
- A sealant– I used a clear, gloss spray-on sealant to protect the paint.
Painting the Cups
Alright, time for the fun part! I started by sketching out some simple leaf shapes on the cups with a pencil, you know, just to guide me. You could also try pumpkins. Then, I started painting. I used:
- One layer of orange for my base for some leaves.
- Added some red and yellow for highlights to others. I blended them together a bit while the paint was still wet to get that nice, gradient effect.
Honestly, I just messed around with the colors until I liked how they looked. It doesn’t have to be perfect! After the leaves were done, I used a thin brush and some brown paint to add little stems and veins.
Letting Them Dry and Sealing
Once I was happy with the designs, I let the cups dry completely. This took a few hours, so I went and watched some TV. And then, the final step: sealing! I took the cups outside and gave them a good coat of the clear sealant spray. This makes the paint waterproof and chip-resistant, so I can actually use the cups without ruining my hard work.
I let the sealant dry overnight, just to be sure. And that’s it! Now I have these super cute, custom-made autumn tea cups. They’re not perfect, but I made them myself, and that’s what counts. Plus, it was a really fun and relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
