Okay, so I’ve been getting into teapots lately, specifically ceramic ones. They’re just so pretty! But I quickly learned that they don’t exactly keep your tea warm for very long. So, I went on a little mission to figure out how to both sign my new teapot (because, why not?) and keep my tea nice and toasty. Here’s what I did:

Signing the Teapot
First things first, I wanted to put my mark on this beauty. I didn’t want to mess it up, so I did some digging. I grabbed these:
- Oil-based paint marker: I figured this would be permanent and wouldn’t just wash off.
- Rubbing alcohol: To clean the surface first. Super important!
- Cotton swabs: For any little mistakes.
I started by cleaning a spot on the bottom of the teapot with the rubbing alcohol. Gotta make sure the marker sticks, right? Then, I very, very carefully wrote my name. It wasn’t perfect, but the cotton swabs helped clean up any shaky lines. I let it dry completely. Like, overnight completely. Didn’t want to smudge all my hard work.
Keeping the Tea Warm
Now for the main event – warm tea! I wasn’t about to let my tea get cold. So, I tried a couple of things:
- Tea cozy: Ok,this seemed like the most obvious one. I have one lying around and put on the teapot.
- Preheating the teapot: I’d heard about this, so I tried it. I poured some boiling water into the teapot, swirled it around, and then dumped it out before making my tea.
I put the cozy on. Then, I made my tea as usual. Filled it up, put the lid on tight, and wrapped that cozy around it like a warm hug.
My result
My signature stayed put! And, the tea? It stayed warm for way longer than before. I was actually surprised. The preheating and the cozy make a big difference.

So, mission accomplished! Signed teapot, warm tea. I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out.
