Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with some oolong tea, specifically the Suntory one ’cause it’s pretty famous, right? I’ve always been curious about making cold brew tea, especially during the hotter days. It just feels like a healthier option compared to those sugary drinks out there.
I started by grabbing my bag of Suntory oolong tea leaves. I read somewhere that using loose leaves is better, so I made sure I had those. Now, for the amount, the internet says about 2-5 grams of tea leaves for every 100 ml of water. Sounded a bit complicated, so I just eyeballed it—filled my small teapot about a quarter of the way with leaves. I figured I could always adjust it later if it wasn’t strong enough.
Next, I filled the teapot with cold, filtered water. I didn’t heat the water or anything, just straight from the fridge. Then came the waiting game. I stuck the teapot in the fridge and, honestly, I kinda forgot about it for a while. I think it was in there for about, I don’t know, maybe 6-8 hours? It was a busy day.
The Tasting Part
- When I finally remembered and took it out, the tea had this nice, amber color. It looked pretty good, if I do say so myself.
- I poured some into a glass, no ice, just wanted to taste it as is.
- And wow, it was surprisingly good! It had that classic oolong flavor—kind of earthy, slightly sweet, and really refreshing.
- It wasn’t bitter at all, which sometimes happens if you brew tea for too long.
I ended up drinking the whole pot throughout the day. It was perfect for sipping on while I was working on my computer. Plus, I felt pretty good about myself for not reaching for a soda or something. This oolong tea thing might just become a regular thing for me.
I also heard from somewhere on the internet, this tea helps block fat or something? Not sure how true that is, but hey, if it’s tasty and might be doing some good inside, I’m all for it. Anyway, that’s my little tea adventure for today. Might try a different brand next time, but the Suntory one definitely gets a thumbs up from me.
