Okay, so the other day I was feeling a little under the weather, you know, that kind of day where you just want something warm and comforting. I remembered I had a box of those K-Cup things for my coffee maker and thought, “Why not try making some tea with it?” I’m a big fan of mint tea, so I dug around and found a box of peppermint K-Cups. It said “Maud’s Organic Peppermint Tea” on it, I think.
First, I popped one of those little cups into my machine, just like I do with my coffee pods. I hit the button for a medium-sized cup, I didn’t want it too strong or too weak. The machine whirred to life, and in a couple of minutes, I had a steaming cup of what I hoped would be delicious mint tea.
The aroma was pretty good, it smelled like a candy cane! I took a sip, and it was… decent. Not as strong as the mint tea I usually make with loose leaves, but it was definitely minty. I added a little bit of honey, because I like my tea sweet. You could also squeeze in some lemon if you like it tangy, but I skipped that this time. For a vegan option, I guess you could use dandelion honey or agave nectar or something. And if you are really watching your sugar you could probably use one of those artificial sweeteners, but I’m not a big fan of those.
- I tried adding a little bit of chocolate syrup once, because I heard mint and chocolate are a good combination. It was interesting, but not something I’d do every day.
- I also tried mixing it with some green tea K-Cups I had. It wasn’t bad, but the mint kind of overpowered the green tea flavor.
My conclusion?
It’s a good option if you’re in a hurry or if you just want a quick and easy cup of mint tea. It’s not going to replace my usual way of making tea, but it’s definitely convenient. Plus, it’s kind of fun to use the coffee maker for something different. Overall, it was a successful experiment. I finished the whole cup and felt a little better afterwards. Maybe it was the tea, or maybe it was just the warm, comforting feeling of having a hot drink on a chilly day.
