Okay, so I recently got into this whole cast iron teapot thing. They look super cool, and I heard they make your tea taste better. But I gotta be honest, I was a little lost on how to actually use the warmer that came with it. So, I did a little digging and a bit of experimenting, and now I’m here to share what I’ve learned.
First off, I made sure my new teapot was seasoned. Apparently, that’s a big deal with cast iron. You can’t just use it straight out of the box. I followed some guide to get it seasoned, which basically involved heating it up with some water, nothing fancy.
Next, I put some water in the teapot and placed it on the stove. I let the water boil because that’s the whole point of making tea, right? Boiling water is a must. It seems obvious, but you gotta say it.
Then, I poured the boiling water in a cup, and started to get the hang of how much water I liked to use for my tea. This took a bit of trial and error, not gonna lie. Add water, add tea, not too complicated.
Now, for the warmer. This is where I was really confused at first. Turns out, it’s pretty simple. I just placed a small candle underneath the teapot to keep the tea warm. I guess that makes sense. The flame from the candle heats up the cast iron, and that keeps the tea inside nice and toasty.
- Light the candle: I used one of those small, round candles. I think they’re called tealights? Anyway, I lit one of those and put it in the holder under the warmer.
- Place the teapot on the warmer: Once the candle was lit, I carefully put my teapot on top of the warmer. It fit perfectly, which was a relief.
- Enjoy your tea: And that’s it! I could just pour myself a cup whenever I wanted, and the tea stayed warm for a good while.
It’s actually pretty neat how long the cast iron keeps the heat in. And I gotta say, the tea does taste a bit different. In a good way! It’s like, richer or something. I don’t know, maybe it’s just in my head. It is nice, though, to just sit back and have a cup of tea while using such a cool tool. I am getting into it.
So, yeah, that’s my experience with using a cast iron teapot warmer. It’s not rocket science, but hopefully, this little walkthrough helps someone out there who’s as clueless as I was. If I, being as clumsy as I am, can do it, so can you. Happy brewing!
