Okay, so I’ve been wanting to throw a little tea party for a while now, and I finally decided to just go for it! The biggest thing was figuring out the plates and cups. I didn’t want anything too fancy, but also not just plain paper plates.

First, I scoured my own cupboards. I found a few mismatched floral plates that I’d totally forgotten about. Score! They weren’t a complete set, but they had that vintage vibe I was going for.
The Hunt Begins
Then, I hit up a few thrift stores. Seriously, this is the BEST place to find unique and cheap tea party stuff. I spent a good couple of hours digging through shelves.
- I found some adorable little teacups with gold rims – only a dollar each!
- I also grabbed a few more plates that kind of matched the ones I already had. The key is to not be too picky about everything matching perfectly. It’s more charming when it’s a little bit eclectic.
Putting it All Together
Back home, I laid everything out on my table. I mixed and matched the plates and cups until I got a look I liked. It was definitely a bit of a hodgepodge, but in a good way! It felt very “Alice in Wonderland,” which was exactly what I was hoping for.
I realised I didn’t really have enough. My kitchen had some, thrifting had some. To solve that I just ordered some more disposable ones, paper, but cute designs. Now I have lots!
Honestly, the whole process of finding the plates and cups was almost as fun as the tea party itself. It was like a little treasure hunt! And it proved that you don’t need to spend a ton of money to create something beautiful and fun.
