Okay, so the other day I was thinking, “Man, I really hate it when my tea gets cold too fast.” I mean, who likes lukewarm tea, right? So, I started looking into ways to keep my teapot warm. I remembered reading something about those teapot warmers, the ones with a little candle underneath.
First, I checked out what I had at home. I found a small ceramic teapot that I don’t use much. It’s pretty, but I usually go for my bigger one. Then, I dug around for some tealight candles. I knew I had a bunch somewhere, and yep, found them in a drawer in the kitchen. They were the normal, small, round ones.
Next, I needed something to put the candle in, like a little holder, and to keep the teapot stable on it. This was a bit tricky. I didn’t have a proper teapot warmer. I spent some time rummaging through my cupboards, and then I spotted a small ceramic dish. It’s meant for dips and sauces, I think. It looked like it would be perfect. The dish was shallow and wide enough to fit the candle and strong enough to hold the teapot.
So, I got everything ready. I filled the teapot with hot water—no tea yet, just wanted to test it out first. I placed the tealight candle in the ceramic dish and lit it. Then, I put the teapot on top of the dish, making sure it was balanced.
Here’s how I did it:
- Boiled some water in my electric kettle.
- Poured the hot water into the ceramic teapot.
- Placed a tealight candle in the small ceramic dish.
- Carefully lit the candle.
- Gently placed the teapot on top of the dish, over the candle.
I waited for a bit, checking the water temperature every now and then. I was actually pretty surprised. It worked! The water stayed warm for a good while. I think the little flame from the candle was just enough to keep the heat in without making the water too hot. It was like a mini campfire for my teapot!
After the successful test, I made myself a proper cup of tea. I used the same setup, and it was great. The tea stayed at a nice, drinkable temperature for much longer than usual. No more rushing to finish my tea before it gets cold!
Honestly, I was pretty proud of my little DIY teapot warmer. It’s not fancy, but it does the job. And it’s kind of cool to use something as simple as a candle to keep my tea warm. If you’re like me and hate cold tea, you should give this a try. It’s super easy, and you probably have everything you need at home already.
