Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this new tea strainer I got, and I gotta say, it’s pretty neat. It’s one of those deals you just set right over your cup. I thought I’d share how I’ve been using it.
First off, I grabbed my favorite loose leaf tea. I then opened up the strainer. Some of these things have a little latch or something, but mine just pulls apart.
Next, I spooned some tea leaves into the strainer. I like my tea pretty strong, so I was a bit generous with it. Then, I closed it back up, making sure it was secure so I didn’t end up with a cup full of leaves.
Brewing Time
After that, I boiled some water in my kettle. While I waited for it to boil, I placed the strainer over my favorite mug. It’s got this cool little lip that sits right on the edge of the cup.
Once the water was ready, I carefully poured it over the tea leaves in the strainer. I filled the mug up to just below the rim, making sure all the leaves were getting soaked.
- Wait for the water to boil.
- Place the strainer on the cup.
- Pour hot water into the cup through the strainer.
I let it steep for a few minutes. I like to give it a little swirl now and then to make sure the water’s really getting in there. The waiting is the hardest part, honestly.
Enjoying the Tea
Once I figured it was steeped enough, I carefully removed the strainer. It has this neat little handle, so you don’t burn your fingers. I set it aside on a small plate, so it didn’t drip everywhere.
And that’s it! I had a perfect cup of tea without any leaves floating around. This thing is way easier than using those tea bags, and it feels a bit fancier, too. Plus, there were these words “tea” engraved on the strainer’s rim, which I thought was a nice touch. This is all there is to it, and I’m really starting to love this little gadget.
If you’re into loose leaf tea, I definitely recommend giving one of these strainers a try. It’s a simple thing, but it really does make the whole tea-drinking experience a bit nicer.
