Well, today I wanted to do something a little different, something crafty. I had this idea to paint a tea cup and saucer. And not just any color, I wanted them to be blue, a nice, calming blue.
So, first things first, I gathered my supplies. I already had a plain white tea cup and saucer set that I picked up a while back. Then, I went out and bought some ceramic paint in a lovely shade of blue. I also made sure I had some paintbrushes, a palette, and some water for cleaning the brushes. Oh, and some newspaper to protect my table, can’t forget that!
Once I had everything set up, I started by giving the tea cup and saucer a good wash. Just to make sure there wasn’t any dust or anything on them that could mess up the paint. After they were dry, it was time for the fun part!
I poured some of the blue paint onto my palette and dipped my brush in. I decided to start with the saucer. I carefully painted the entire surface, making sure to get into all the little curves and edges. It took a couple of coats to get the color nice and even, but I wasn’t in a rush.
- First coat: A bit streaky, but that’s okay.
- Second coat: Looking much better, the blue is really starting to pop.
- Third coat: Perfect! A solid, beautiful blue.
While the saucer was drying, I moved on to the tea cup. I used the same process, painting it carefully, layer by layer. The handle was a bit tricky, but I took my time and made sure it was fully covered.
After I was happy with how both pieces looked, I followed the instructions on the paint bottle and set them aside to dry completely and then I baked them in the oven to set the paint and make sure they’re going to be fine.
And that’s it! Now I have a beautiful blue tea cup and saucer set. It was such a fun and relaxing project. I’m really happy with how they turned out, I have to say that drinking tea is more comforting now!
Next time I might try some other designs or even a different color, I am thinking of orange now!
