Okay, so I’ve been on this whole Lilly Pulitzer kick lately, right? I just love those bright, happy patterns. They just scream summer and good vibes. I was browsing Pinterest, as one does, and I stumbled upon this whole world of Lilly Pulitzer-inspired table settings. I was instantly hooked, I mean, who wouldn’t want to drink their tea out of a cup covered in adorable pink flamingos or something?
Getting Started
First, I did some digging into the history of the brand. Turns out, Lilly Pulitzer was this cool American entrepreneur back in the day. She started with those colorful shift dresses that were super popular, then the mother-daughter dresses, how cute is that. But the real MVP of the patterns was this artist, Suzie Zuzek. She was the head designer for the company that made all of Lilly Pulitzer’s fabrics from the 60s to the 80s. What a legend!
My Lilly-Inspired Tea Party Adventure
So, inspired by all this, I decided I had to have my own Lilly Pulitzer tea party. I started gathering supplies. I already had a couple of Lilly Pulitzer keychains and some mugs and wine glasses, because, like I said, I’m a fan. But I needed more. I hit up some thrift stores and online marketplaces looking for anything that fit the vibe.
I managed to find some plain white teacups and saucers for super cheap. That’s where the DIY part came in. I found some fabric with those classic Lilly-esque patterns. We’re talking bright pinks, greens, yellows, with flowers, and some fun, tropical motifs. I carefully cut out the fabric and, using some fabric glue, attached them to the teacups and saucers. It was a bit messy, and I definitely got glue on my fingers more than once, but it was worth it!
The Final Touches
- I also made some little napkins with the leftover fabric.
- I whipped up some simple iced tea and some little sandwiches.
- I even found some paper plates and decorations that matched the color scheme.
The whole setup looked so cheerful and fun. I invited a couple of friends over, and we had the best time sipping tea and gossiping. It felt like we were transported to some tropical paradise, even though we were just in my living room. Honestly, it was such a fun project, and it really brightened up my day. I’m already planning my next Lilly Pulitzer-themed get-together! Maybe I’ll try to make some matching coasters next time, who knows.
