Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get better at making tea, like, really making it right. Not just dunking a tea bag in some hot water and calling it a day. So, today’s little project was all about the “tea steep cup” thing.

Getting Started
First, I grabbed my favorite mug. It’s nothing fancy, just a plain white one, but it holds a good amount of liquid. Then, I dug out the tea I wanted to use – some loose-leaf Earl Grey I got a while back. I also found this little metal infuser basket thingy that fits inside the mug.
The Process
- I boiled some water in my electric kettle. I always make sure it’s a full boil, ’cause I heard that’s important for getting the flavor out.
- While the water was heating up, I scooped a couple of teaspoons of the loose-leaf tea into the infuser basket.
- Once the kettle clicked off, I carefully poured the hot water into the mug, making sure to cover the tea in the basket.
Steeping Time
Now, this is where I usually mess up. I either forget about it and it gets super bitter, or I take it out too early and it’s weak. So, I set a timer on my phone for 3 minutes. That seemed like a good starting point for Earl Grey.
I watched the water slowly turn a nice amber color.

The Result
When the timer went off, I carefully removed the infuser basket and set it aside. I took a sip, and…wow! It was actually really good. Not too bitter, not too weak, just…right. It was way better than my usual rushed tea-bag method.
I can certainly say that, i successfully made the best tea I’ve ever made today!
